Ghostbuster’s new ECTO-1 Car unveiled

Lots of mystery continues to surround the Paul Feig directed reboot/continuation of the epic Ghostbusters franchise. Whilst we’ve had a brief glance of our new all female team line up and teases of their costumes and those all important ghost tackling proton packs, a big question for many has been will ECTO-1 be in the movie and if so, will it be a modern reimagining or something more in line with the 1959 Cadillac from the original 1984 movie.

Finally Feig has released an image via his twitter account accompanied by the hashtag #whattheygonnadrive. Take a look at the embedded tweets below from Feig’s account which give us a great first look at the car.

So, it’s a pleasant surprise to see that the vehicle is very much in keeping with the recycled feel of the original movies ECTO-1, whilst certainly a little less sleek and boxier it still looks pretty awesome and definitely shows fan service ringing through harkening back to the classic of the original movie. Of course this does bring up some interesting question about the movie itself, and makes us undecided as to whether this is a full remake with all the classic staples or maybe suggests something deeper about the film’s plot if it is in fact within the continuity of the previous films.

What are your thoughts on the new ECTO-1, is it the car you were hoping for in the movie? Did you want to see something more modernised and high-tech or perhaps given the older feel you think they should have just stuck with the 1984 movies classic vehicle either way?
