EA is looking to build it’s upcoming Star Wars games in a similar vein to the hugely successful and excellent Batman Arkham series from Warner Bros. IGN reports from an interview with EA CEO Andrew Wilson over at Fortune Tech that the games publisher has said “what Warner Bros did with Batman was take the core roots of the IP and manifest that inside the walls of Gotham city” he continued that they “delivered an interactive experience that had real ties to what you would see in the films and what you would have read in the comics, while having its own life because it could provide such deep and more immersive storylines”.
Since EA’s acquisition of the exclusive rights to develop and publish Star Wars games last year many wondered what to expect from the giant. This approach certainly seems a smart one, with the massive success of the Arkham games as well as the added freedom to avoid following a movie plot. It’s great to see EA taking a proactive approach to the license and to hear of the possibility of another title that we can get excited about alongside the coming DICE developed Star Wars Battlefront.
