Sony Announce New PlayStation VR Headset

New PlayStation VR Headset

An Improved New PlayStation VR Headset Is On The Way

The current version of Sony’s flagship VR headset, the PlayStation VR has been out for almost a year. Now seems like the opportune time for Sony to release a new PlayStation VR headset. Having had plenty of time to look at the customer experience and make some minor, but ultimately pertinent changes to it’s hardware.

The new Playstation VR headset has undergone some subtle changes that will likely enhance the user experience of an already great product. The new variant with model number CUH-ZVR2 alleviates several issues. Firstly, the new PlayStation VR headset now has streamlined headphone integration. No more stressing about those additional wires hanging down. A slimmer, less intrusive unit cable output from the headset. And HDR content pass-through, meaning there’s no need to disconnect the unit everytime you wish to watch HDR content on your TV.

Ultimately none of these are big new features, and certainly don’t encourage a unit upgrade for existing owners. But, this does make the headset a great deal more refined and user friendly. Providing a better experience for new user’s and showing that Sony is willing to implement iterative improvements. Listening to it’s user base and building a greater experience.

New PlayStation VR Headset, New Price?

As of now the new unit is confirmed to release in Japan and North America. Though rest of world is expected to follow shortly. It’ll arrive first in Japan on October 14th. The retail price for the new unit will remain the same.

Still deciding on whether to pick up a PSVR? We reckon it’s great VR headset, with minor shortcomings that ultimately is a fantastic partner to the PlayStation 4 experience. With excellent games like Resident Evil VII and Until Dawn: Rush Of Blood already available. And a host of exciting upcoming titles including, Skyrim VR and Doom VFR. There’s no better time to checkout out the new PlayStation VR headset!
