We were huge fans of the original Resident Evil: Revelations on it’s initial 3DS release and got pretty darn excited about the potential leak of the new game last week. It has today been officially announced by Capcom at Sony’s pre Tokyo Game Show press conference revealing that the game is in fact real and we can expect to see it on our consoles in 2015.
Alongside the reveal it was explained that the original protagonists of the first Revelations title Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine will not be returning for the sequel. It will instead focus on different characters in a new location, whether this could mean entirely new characters to the series or perhaps the return of some fan favourites, who knows? Of course, the internet is rife with rumour and many hope that we may once again see Claire Redfield back in action.
The live action trailer featured above doesn’t really give a great deal away but could be hinting at a new way of spotting the infected given the green for healthy, red for infected wristbands it shows. Could this be turned into an excellently unique gameplay device? Perhaps Capcom will be throwing civilians into the mix in this title, forcing the player to be ever wary of not only their environment, but their allies and the general populace around them?
We’ll confess we were already very excited about the idea of a new survival focussed Resident Evil and this trailer has us even more intrigued! Bring on 2015 when the game is set to release on Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. Surprisingly no mention of 3DS which kicked off the revelations series though. What do you think to the potential of this new Resident Evil, are you as excited as we are?
