Michael Shannon’s Zod could return in Batman V Superman but not as you’d expect

Thanks to the team over at Comicbook it seems that we may have some new insights into the villains of the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and perhaps what overall impact they will have on the forthcoming DC Cinematic Universe at large. As always this post is somewhat spoilerish so if you don’t want some potentially big surprises from BVS ruined for you stop reading now!

According to Comicbook rumours are that Michael Shannon’s General Zod will be making a return appearance in the forthcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. For those of us who have seen Man of Steel (Again Spoilers if you haven’t) we all know that Superman has to make the troubling decision to kill Zod so as to render him unable to continue his massacre of metropolis toward the end of the movie. So how then could Zod return in Batman V Superman.

Well the answer is quite simple, Zod will remain dead, however, rumour has it his body will not and due to meddling by Lex Luthor – who it is said will gain access to the body to experiment – will in fact activate a dormant ‘Doomsday Genome’ inside Zod’s body creating none other than the terrifying Superman villain ‘Doomsday’. We imagine that the rumours of Michael Shannon being seen around the set of the movie could suggest flashbacks to Krypton perhaps explaining the creation of the genome and it’s purpose.

So how do you feel about the potential of Zod making a return, even if it’s only as a corpse and potentially flashbacks before becoming Doomsday? If this is the case, will Michael Shannon be continuing his role and playing the character of Doomsday. Could this be a ruse, with Lex Luthor being the primary antagonist of BVS and Doomsday’s creation leading into the plot of the Justice League movie? Let us know what you think!
