Nintendo has revealed that as of this November it will be releasing the first of two jam packed DLC packs for the ever so excellent Mario Kart 8.
Both packs are set to feature new characters, karts and 2 new race cups. These cups will consist of 4 new tracks each resulting in a rather nice set of 8 new tracks in each DLC pack. Most excitingly these packs will – for the first time ever – feature characters and vehicles from property outside of the Mario universe. As pointed out by IGN could these new external universe characters be added to make Mario Kart 8 more Amiibo friendly?
The first pack set to launch this November will include; Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach and Link alongside it’s 8 brand new tracks. In addition there will be four new vehicles including the Blue Falcon direct from the F-Zero franchise. The second announced set of DLC will launch in the following May and will again include 8 new tracks, 4 new vehicles and new characters of Villager, Isabelle and Dry Bowser. To top it all off anyone who buys both sets will get a bonus 8 new colour skins for both Shy Guy and Yoshi.
In the UK the packs will set you back £7 each and in the US $7.99. No word yet on whether or not there will be a discount for any one purchasing these together, though with all the content crammed in £7 seems like a fair price though we’d have aimed for a £5 mark personally to make it more pocket money suitable. What do you think to this DLC for Mario Kart 8? Is it a welcome addition to an already excellent game or should Nintendo have kept away from it?
