Jesse Eisenberg is Lex Luthor

As a surprise to many Jesse Eisenberg has been cast as Lex Luthor the well known core antagonist of Superman throughout his comics history. An ongoing discussion for movie fans has been who would take this crucial role and if in fact the character would be appearing in the forthcoming Batman Vs Superman movie. Well it’s now been confirmed, Jesse Eisenberg is a surprise casting but one that could work superbly, a versatile actor it’ll be a very potentially unique portrayal of Luthor.

Other rumoured front runners for the role had been the likes of Bryan Cranston, alongside Joaquin Phoenix with many other names surfacing since the film was initially announced. Director Zack Snyder commented on the casting “Lex Luthor is often considered the most notorious of Superman’s rivals, his unsavoury reputation preceding him since 1940. What’s great about Lex is that he exists beyond the confines of the stereotypical nefarious villain. He’s a complicated and sophisticated character whose intellect, wealth and prominence position him as one of the few mortals able to challenge the incredible might of Superman. Having Jesse in the role allows us to explore that interesting dynamic, and also take the character in some new and unexpected directions.”

Batman Vs Superman was recently delayed until May 6th 2016. The film stars Henry Cavill as the Man Of Steel himself alongside Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder woman.
