Hyper Sentinel Is Perfect Pick Up And Play For Nintendo Switch

We got hands on with the action packed classic top down style shooter Hyper Sentinel in our Hyper Sentinel Nintendo Switch Preview. Hyper Sentinel was fantastic fun to play and in our preview we specifically got hands on with the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Hyper Sentinel is described as a retro-futurist title. It harkens back to the  classics of the genre yet controls with feels responsive, fresh and modern too. Inevitably providing a game that feels just like the classic top down shooters you remember.

Graphically the game looks fantastic, it’s colours pop with wonderful vibrancy on the screen of the Nintendo Switch. In our preview we were treated to a display of some specialised colour modes too. These unique modes tweak the screen and graphics to emulate retro consoles like the C64 or Spectrum.

Vibrant Graphics Lead To Delightful Gameplay

Hyper Sentinel’s game play is frenetic and action packed. With tight arenas filled with enemies, power ups and points. We played Arcade mode, one of the Game’s 3 core modes. This tasked us with destroying all the ground elements of an enemy base and nailing those points modifiers. After the successful destruction of the base a ‘guardian’ is revealed, effectively a challenging boss battle to keep you on your toes.

Thankfully the game is ‘hyper’ responsive making controlling the ship wonderfully simple. When chatting through our preview we were told that there’s some advanced techniques to employ too. Ones that players will need to discover for themselves that’ll really enhance their ability to hammer those points modifiers and become Hyper Sentinel pros.

The game isn’t short on content either, comprising of 3 varying game modes each with their own unique challenges. Arcade, Horde and Boss all of which bring something fresh and exciting to the gameplay.

Our Hyper Sentinel Nintendo Switch Preview allowed us some proper hands on time with the recently built Nintendo Switch version. It felt wonderful to play, being exceptionally responsive with it’s simple mix of controls and a perfect fit for switch. Further to that the fast, frenetic gameplay and 5-10 minute stages make for excellent travel gaming.
