We loved Don’t Starve, the beautifully built, charmingly fun and darkly difficult game from Klei Entertainment, so it’s absolute music to our ears to hear that the game is set to receive a multiplayer expansion as revealed by IGN. The new expansion cleverly titled ‘Dont Starve Together’ will allow between 2-4 players to combine their might and tackle the harsh game environment of Don’t Starve as a team.
To add to this great news the multiplayer update will be absolutely free to anyone who currently owns the game, though for newcomers the game’s price will increase slightly. As of yet the developer has only announced the expansion for PC but depending on how well it is received has mentioned the potential of bringing it to PS4.
When discussing the expansion Klei stated “A lot of people have voiced their opinions that multiplayer would be perfect in Don’t Starve. However, at the time we didn’t have the resources to make it happen and we weren’t confident that it would actually work both in concept and implementation. It was important to us that multiplayer would not only be interesting for you to play, but also something that we would be proud of creating.”
Don’t Starve is an excellent game and the idea of being able to play with a group of equally keen friends is very exciting indeed. Whilst no release date has been set Klei Entertainment are aiming to have the expansion available in late summer. Here’s hoping it comes to PS4 as well. Are you excited by the idea of hammering through Don’t Starve Together’s campaign with friends or do you feel the isolation is what makes the game?
