Rumours have been spread far and wide about a last generation specific entry into the Assassins Creed franchise following the move to next generation only consoles for the earlier announced Assassins Creed Unity. Today that rumoured last generation title has been revealed as Assassins Creed: Rogue!
The game is set to have strong ties to the plot of it’s next generation cousin with the game focussing on the Seven Years war era of America that links directly into the French Revolution. According to the news coming from IGN you will play as Shay Patrick Cormac, who happens to be a Templar, the series primary antagonists. You’ll find yourself exploring the North Atlantic Ocean in Cormac’s ship The Moriggan with the ability to travel to larger cities and unique locales such as New York.
In keeping with the last few years Assassins Creed releases the story will tie in closely to the Kenway sage explored over the course of ACIII and AC4: Black Flag as well as acting hand in hand to create a larger scope of story with AC: Unity. The game itself is set to launch ok PS3 and Xbox 360 later this year on November 11th.
What do you think of these two varying AC games does the idea of a greater richer universe working across two generations appeal to you? Do you find it frustrating that to gain sight of the full story you’ll not only need two console but two game discs as well?
