2. Batman – Sega Mega Drive (1990)
Very much a nostalgia piece but one that’s worthy of inclusion within the list is the classic 1990 sunsoft game rendition of the 1989 Batman Movie starring Jack Nicholson and Michael Keaton. The game itself took the form of a classic side scrolling beat-em-up and was for many, including myself one of the first tastes of a true Batman game on a home console. Not only did the game include a host of levels and a plot that remained almost true to the movie, it had vehicle sections that included driving the Batmobile and flying the Batwing. A true taste of being the Batman or at least by the standards of 1990. So whilst by today’s standards the game is rather dated, it still rings true as a great example of what could be done at the time and how far we’ve come in the last 14 years.
