Suicide Squad first look teaser officially released after Comic-Con leak

After a secret unveiling at this years San Diego Comic Con, the first look show reel of the highly anticipated and intriguing anti-hero DC movie, Suicide Squad found it’s way on line through leaked footage. This of course occurred much to the dismay of Warner Bros who had intended this footage to be exclusive to the SDCC audience, however to counteract this Warner Bros have released the trailer online in full HD with the following statement.

“Warner Bros. Pictures and our anti-piracy team have worked tirelessly over the last 48 hours to contain the Suicide Squad footage that was pirated from Hall H on Saturday. We have been unable to achieve that goal. Today we will release the same footage that has been illegally circulating on the web, in the form it was created and high quality with which it was intended to be enjoyed. We regret this decision as it was our intention to keep the footage as a unique experience for the Comic Con crowd, but we cannot continue to allow the film to be represented by the poor quality of the pirated footage stolen from our presentation.”

We’re holding judgement for now given that this is simply a ‘first look’ and not really a trailer of sorts though personally I’m underwhelmed. I feel like this didn’t really give us anything solid about the movie and for the most part was quite a poor introduction to both the concept of the ‘Suicide Squad’ and to the members it comprises. Whilst it was great to see plenty of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn, I feel that too much focus was applied to her character removing some of the mystery and also failing to showcase the diversity within the team. Jared Leto’s Joker looks and sounds fantastic but something still feels slightly off, though I’m confident that Leto will pull it off amazingly as we see more of him in the role.

What do you think to this first look at the Suicide Squad, are you underwhelmed like us or loving it? Do you feel more time could of been spent to showcase the other characters in the team or is focusing on fan favourite character Harley Quinn a smart move? Let us know in the comments below.
