Spider-Man: The New Avenger title rumoured for Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man reboot

Rumours surfacing from Latino Review today suggest that Marvel and Sony’s joint Spider-Man reboot due July 27th 2017 will be called Spider-Man: The New Avenger. A smart title that ties it directly into Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, in a similar way that Marvel sold the first Captain America movie with it’s subtitle ‘The First Avenger’. If this title does in fact turn out to be the movies true title it unequivocally states that Spider-Man is part of the Avengers team, further more it suggests that the plot of the movie will likely show our new Peter Parker’s transition from young hero to full on Avengers team member.

As far as plot for the new Spider-Man movie is concerned, Paul Feige, the top dog of the MCU has stated that it will forego any origin tale for Spider-Man jumping straight into his high school years. Now it seems the movie may well take us from high school straight to the high flying realms of peril that Marvel’s Cinematic Universe continues to throw at the viewer. A smart move helping to bring the character straight up to speed with the other core players of the universe.

Spider-Man: The New Avenger is rumoured to be directed by Drew Goddard who had originally been attached to direct Sony’s planned Sinister Six movie but now with Sony and Marvel partnering to produce the new movie it seems Goddard may be moving over to direct this joint effort of a reboot. In case you hadn’t heard, rumoured front runners for the role of the new Spider-Man include Nat Wolff, Asa Butterfield, Tom Holland, Timothee Chalamet and Liam James.
