It has been revealed today by Sony Online Entertainment’s president John Smedley that the company is in the midst of developing a brand new free to play Zombie MMO. As reported by IGN Smedley had plenty to say on the upcoming game entitled: H1Z1. “It’s a massively multiplayer game in which players fight for survival in a world where death is the only sure thing. The H1Z1 virus devastated mankind and left nothing but death and destruction in its wake and a world nearly empty of human life where the remnants of humanity are in a fight against extinction against those infected with the virus”.
Obviously the game has many apparent similarities to similar titles already on the market and though not mentioned could it have player relationship options similar to those of games like Day-Z. Smedley discussed how there are a handful of unique features for the game that will surely separate it from the current competition. These included things like multiple servers with varying rule sets creating a new experience for players on each server, all of which are capable of holding “thousands of players”. There will also be a rich and diverse crafting system and an in game economy built around an expansive trading system.
The game has it’s very own subreddit where you can keep up on all the latest news and ask any questions about the game you fancy. For me this looks set to be fantastic as with most SOE games, we can expect to see this on PC and PS4 and this is something i’m certainly very excited to get my hands on and get playing!
