Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire remakes coming to 3DS

Nintendo has announced new instalments into their ever popular Pokemon franchise. The upcoming two new titles for the Nintendo 3DS are remakes of fan favourites Ruby and Sapphire that originally released for the Game Boy Advance way back in 2003. The new game’s titles have altered slightly to represent their fresh reimagining to Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. The tentative 3DS packaging for the new games has been revealed and can be seen below.

Given that Nintendo had huge success with their most recent and excellent entries into the franchise Pokemon X & Y which shifted a huge 12.26 million units in total it’s not a surprise to see new titles being announced. As a huge fan of the Pokemon franchise it’s great for there to be more games coming to the 3DS especially remakes of Ruby and Sapphire which were excellent games on their release. No additional information regarding how the games will look, or if new features will be added were given but with E3 in the not too distant future we’re sure more announcements will follow.

Are you excited about the idea of a new Pokemon title? It’s clear in the wake of struggling financials Nintendo are fighting with their back by releasing more titles from their big guns. Do you think it’s too much or is this the right way for Nintendo to go?
