PlayStation 4 Pro Revealed Sony Announce Console With Pricing And Release Date

After a grueling wait to understand what exactly all this PlayStation 4 Neo/4k was all about Sony has finally – after confirming it’s existence but no more at this year’s E3 – announced full details of what we can expect from this upgraded, powerhouse Playstation 4 model now officially called the Playstation 4 Pro.

PlayStation CEO Andrew House officially revealed the console before handing over to Mark Cerny lead playstation architect to deliver the full details. With a full host of updated hardware that includes an increased GPU the console is designed to maximise the potential of HDR gaming and video. The design remains very close to the original PS4 model with this clearly being designed to now take it’s premium place in the market with the also revealed PlayStation 4 Slim becoming the lower-powered budget model to sit alongside it.

With it’s additional power Sony has stated that we’ll be seeing greatly improved visuals and frame rates across new titles developed with the Pro hardware in mind. The good news of course is that as of yet, Sony promises all Playstation 4 games will be compatible across the classic, slim and Pro models with newer games taking advantage of the enhanced graphical capabilities.

Releasing in November 10th 2016 the console will be available in a 1TB model priced at £349. As of yet only a black variant of the console has been revealed but it’s likely that we can expect other colour variants and perhaps some special editions that tie in with upcoming Playstation Exclusives.

This new console looks like a great mid-cycle reinvention of the PS4 and whilst we’re still not entirely convinced that it’s essential, it’ll be exciting to see how this changes the coming gaming landscape.

What are your thoughts on the PlayStation 4 NEO? A cash grab attempt to get the ‘must get the latest tech’ crowd or a sensible and timely iteration of great hardware to take advantage of increasing technological power and the advent of 4k and VR gaming? Lets us know in the comments!
