New HEROES series: Reborn

NBC have announced that they are bringing a brand new series to air in 2015 of the fantastic and compelling Heroes drama series which initially ran from 2006-2010. As many will remember the original series launched to exceptional critical and commercial success with it’s first season but suffered a dramatic loss in steam through it’s remaining 3 seasons being hindered by a significantly poorer season 2 due to the writers guild of America strikes.

However the show’s 3 and 4 seasons did improve and focussed once again on what had made the first season so compelling. Whilst this was all too little too late and the show was eventually removed from networks after season 4 it’s great to hear that the show will be coming back in a new and reinvigorated miniseries titled: HEROES: Reborn.

The new Series will consist of 13 episodes, with a prequel digital only miniseries that will introduce what is said to be a brand new and fresh cast of characters. NBC have mentioned that the show will follow a complete story arc over it’s 13 episodes and as mentioned will feature a primarily new cast with the potential of the occasional appearance of a character from the original 4 seasons.

When discussing the new series NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke stated “The enormous impact ‘Heroes’ had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening. Shows with that kind of resonance don’t come around often and we thought it was time for another installment” and continued “We’re thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept”.

What do you think to the potential of a brand new series of Heroes? Being a fan of the original season and still enjoying the further 3 i’m excited to consider the potential for great television that a new series could bring.
