Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes takes only 2 hours to complete!

In a recent playthrough of the game by Game Informer it’s been reported by Kotaku that the prologue to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is in fact relatively short racking in a core story gameplay time of around roughly 2 hours.

As mentioned in IGN‘s coverage of the article this playthrough didn’t take into account any of the games additional side mission content and other activities. So in respect to representation of value there is potential that playlength could be longer at around 4-5 hours. Of course as Hideo Kojima director of the game has mentioned previously Ground Zeroes is a prologue/tutorial to get gamers accustomed to both the systems and the world of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
With all that said, for a title set to launch digitally and on disc in a price region of £20-£40 that’s a steep price tag for what sounds like quite a small amount of content, even with the game being Next-Gen. When talking about MGS5 Kojima has described how the game world will now operate with a free open world feel allowing you to approach missions like never before. The open world is set to be quite restricted in Ground Zeroes introductory format but is said to be 100x bigger in scale in ‘The Phantom Pain’.

Whilst the game will undoubtedly be of exceptional high quality, the almost full game asking price does seem excessive considering it’s a small piece of content with limited play time. What do you think? Will you pick ‘Ground Zeroes’ up even if the price does outweigh the content.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will launch digitally and physically in europe on March 20th.
