Lego release Guardians of the Galaxy themed sets!

Since the inclusion of a teaser poster back in the Lego Marvel Superheroes video game it’s been wondered if there would actually be physical Guardians of the Galaxy sets made, and now we know. Lego have announced a collection of 3 sets available immediately that tie into the movie and feature the titular guardians as well as their antagonists. Let’s take a look at the 3 sets that you can pick up online now.

The entry level set called ‘Starblaster Showdown’ appears to feature a few smaller ships with a focus on protagonist Star-Lord as a minifigure with The Sakaaran and a Nova Officer rounding out the Minifigures to make a 3 character set. The set costs £19.99 and feature 196 pieces.
The mid level set in this 3 set series is called ‘Knowhere Escape Mission’ and looks to be a great set. The set looks to focus on an escape effort of the guardians which could be linked to the detainment facility that has been seen in the trailers for the movie numerous times. The set includes arguably the best Minifigure, Rocket Racoon as well as The Sakaaran and Nebula. In addition to these 3 Minifigures there’s also a large groot figure included. The set is available at a cost of £44.99, consists of 433 pieces and looks to be our favourite of the 3.

The largest set of the group is that of the Guardians ship ‘The Milano’ titled ‘The Milano Spaceship Rescue’ a large set that features not only the Milano but also a host of other features and five Lego Minifigures of Guardians characters. These are; Star Lord, Gamora, Drax the Destroyer, Ronan the Accuser and the Sakaaran. The Milano set looks awesome as do the Minifigures included, the set costs £69.99 and contain 665 pieces.

So what do you think to these awesome Lego sets? For us, we feel there is good variety and these certainly seem a better run than Lego’s last superhero movie tie-in sets for Man Of Steel, and fairly good value too. As always the smaller set doesn’t look up to much, but is a great entry point and features a unique minifigure. We’re very excited for Guardians of the Galaxy and are very much looking forward to both the movie and these awesome Lego sets.
