Given Depps love of unique roles we wouldn’t be surprised if this was true. Rumours originated from a well connected source have spoken to Latino Review suggesting that Depp has met with Marvel’s creative team to discuss the role and that Marvel are very keen to have him on board.
As one of Marvel studio’s head honcho Kevin Feige’s favourite Marvel characters it’s not surprising that a high profile actor such as Depp would be approached for the role. Rumours suggest that marvel is willing to adapt the script to help move the character from its original mid 30s age bracket to one more fitting of Depp who is in his 50s.
Dr Strange is something of an unknown quantity and whilst an excellent comics character, potentially a harder sell to a wider audience than many of the others in Marvels back catalogue. Star power and the charisma that Depp could bring to the role would no doubt be a huge benefit and give the movie the best chance of success.
