Guardians of the Galaxy links directly to Avengers 3!

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly as reported on by IGN, Guardians of the Galaxy directors James Gunn has discussed how the events of the film will in turn directly influence the plot of Avengers 3. In the interview Gunn mentions that Guardians is “definitely connected to Avengers 3”. No doubt the connection will be related to Thanos the villain teased at the end of the original Avengers who has yet to appear in another movie. It’s rumoured that Thanos will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy as a fully CGI character who will be the main antagonist in the background to the threat the Guardians are dealing with.

Within the interview Gunn reveals more details on the films back history for Star-Lord as played by Chris Platt  “Abducted from earth at age 8 and raised in a group of thieves and smugglers called the Ravagers. He’s good with the ladies and a bit of a dick and very lucky”. As IGN mention it’s theorised that the constant artifacts and relics that continue to appear in the many marvel films such as the tesseract are in fact Infinity Gems within Marvel’s cinematic universe. Given that Thanos is consistently linked as the upcoming big bad and the Infinity Gauntlet has been alluded to in the Thor movies, this certainly suggests that Thanos will inevitably be the villain of Avengers 3. Could the plot be an adaptation of the well known and popular arc ‘The Infinity Gauntlet’ from the comics.

What do you think of the news that Guardians of the Galaxy will be linking into the upcoming Avengers 3. Are you excited by the possibility of a greater large scale scifi threat?
