Game Of Thrones renewed for more seasons! How many?

In an unsurprising announcement post the launch of the first episode of season 4 this past weekend it has been announced today that HBO has renewed Game Of Thrones for not one but at least another two seasons. This confirms that we’ll continue to explore the characters and the world of Westeros for at least the following two years. Whilst expected, it’s always nice to know for definite if your favourite TV show will be back or not.

Michael Lombardo president of HBO programming said “Game Of Thrones is a phenomenon like no other. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, along with their talented collaborators, continue to surpass themselves, and we look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling” HBO noted that the season 4 premiere managed to garner a massive viewing number of 6.6 million viewers making it HBO’s most watched individual programme since the epic 11.9 million viewers that tuned in for the Finale of The Sopranos in 2007.

Isn’t it great to hear that Game Of Thrones has another full two season ahead plus the remainder of Season 4 as well? We’re looking forward to seeing what’s in store and given that show runners have suggested they see a life span of around 7/8 seasons for the show how things will start to ramp up over the course of season 4, 5 and 6!
