Crash Bandicoot to return on PS4?

In a recent interview with the Telegraph Sony President Andrew House answered a question on the likely hood of a return to playstation for the fan favourite character Crash Bandicoot.

“In concept, it is something we’ve been thinking about and discussing, and this is a shift for us. We’ve started to say that maybe there isn’t anything wrong with going back and looking at characters that people still talk about, that were a big part of their childhood or their youth, I definitely wouldn’t close the door on that.”

Crash Bandicoot as a character has been in existence now for 18 years, with the first game in the franchise being released way back in 1996 on Sony’s Playstation 1. The character and franchise rights were actually sold by Sony to Activision back in 2000 which explains all the odd spin offs that started to surface, rumour has it though that the rights for the character were bought back by Sony last year. However, when asked a spokesperson for Activision denied any rumours of the sort.

What do you think of the potential of Crash Bandicoot returning home to Playstation consoles? Could it usher in a new age of golden platform gaming goodness for gamers on Sony’s PS4 or is better to let old dogs lie and keep the action and platforming to new characters on Sony’s console?
