Batman Vs Superman pushed to 2016

Like many, Batman Vs Superman was the film for 2015 which I was most excited for even more so than Avengers: Age of Ultron but now it seems we’ll all be waiting quite a bit longer as Warner Bros have announced that they will be pushing the films original launch date a whopping 10 months back all the way to May 6th 2016 meaning that it will debut against one of Marvel’s own phase 3 movies.

Is this an effort on Warner Bros part to give them a better chance of success with more separation from the expected huge popularity that Avengers: Age of Ultron is likely to have? It certainly could be and would give them stronger footing. IGN reports that Warner Bros have stated that the push of date allows “the filmmakers time to realise fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story.”

Of course rumours have been circulating recently that Warner Bros may be looking toward the potential of a Justice League movie which would be filmed back to back with Batman VS Superman. Could this be the reason for the push, to give the opportunity to adapt the current script and create a strong lead in to a further movie? Only time will tell, but whilst it’s disappointing that we’ll be waiting all the longer to see the film, it’s clear that Warner Bros are making every effort to ensure it’s the best movie it can be. Plus if the rumours are true surrounding the Justice League movie then there’s certainly a great deal more to get excited for.
