Anchorman director Adam McKay to rewrite Ant-Man script & a new director joins movie!

It’s been a tumoltuous few weeks for Marvel’s upcoming Ant-Man movie with original director Edgar Wright having left the project due to creative differences with Marvel. As such the search has been on to find a new director to helm the picture which Marvel has scheduled for a July 17th 2015 release.
Marvel has been searching hard for their new director bringing in a breadth of options over the past few weeks. Amongst those were the likes of; Rawson Thurber (We’re the Millers), Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Nicholas Stoller (Bad Neighbours), Michael Dowse (Goon) and Adam McKay (Anchorman). However with many of those rumoured apparently turning down the job, the directors chair for Ant-Man has now fallen to Peyton Reed, whose best known for the movie Yes Man which starred Jim Carrey.
To top off all the news of a changing director Marvel also revealed that the script will be undergoing tweaks by none other than Anchorman writer Adam McKay who had initially been rumoured as the front runner to direct. As always with Marvel the news came with a little something extra, with the superhero giants providing us a brand new synopsis for the film which gives us a much greater idea of how Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang and Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym will interact in the movie;
“Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull of a heist that will save the world.”
So what do you think to all the changes occurring to Marvel’s Ant-Man, we were very excited about the initial prospect of an Edgar Wright driven Paul Rudd acted action comedy. Whilst it seems Marvel are keen to keep the action comedy element intact, clearly there were differences in Wright’s vision that caused the separation. We’re not sure that Peyton Reed is the best man for the job, but with a strong lead actor and a script that will be tailored and improved by Anchorman’s Adam McKay there is definite potential.
